Let’s Talk Why We’re Here (No, I’m not talking about our totally valid addiction)
You and me both know…
Golf just rocks man.
That feeling you get when you break out the driver on that first hole as the smell of fresh grass is carried by the wind and you’ve got a good group of friends with you is second to none.
Of course…
That feeling can also be soon followed by hitting the most embarrassing slice to that nearby house’s garage window.
(Hopefully, you can’t relate to that exact memory I have 😂)
But that’s the sport we love!!
The same thing that makes us feel on top of the world when you have 3 consecutive holes that belong on an ESPN highlight reel also makes us feel like…well this guy 👇

I don’t know about you, but I felt this one in my soul when I saw it.
This newsletter will be all about the sport we love and making sure when you go out with your friends, family, in-laws, or even on a solo trip you walk away with a chip on your shoulder
(And NOT chipping the ball way past the hole when you were on track for going under par)
So with the intro out of the way…
Let’s get into the tips you’ll need to justify buying those new Callaway’s you’ve had your eye on 😉
#1 mistake you can fix to beat your friends this weekend
The #1 mistake you can fix is finally starting to take steroids (or increasing the ones you’re already on)
Don’t worry I’m totally kidding.
But hey if you’ve got some…
Sorry, back to focusing on golf.
Too many people when they play have no hips.
Whether they are underdriving at the tee box or hitting those chip shots we were talking about, mostly comes down to this fact.
Of course, if you’re like me and don’t quite know what that means the first time you read it, he also explained it like this.
But one of the biggest things Nick Clearwater, Vice President of Instruction at GOLFTEC, has found improves people’s games after two decades is how people rotate their hips when swinging.
He told Golf.com that when giving people their “improvement plans” one of the first data points they look at is their “hip swing at the top of their backswing
But don’t take my word for it.
This comes from Nick Clearwater, Vice President of Instruction at GOLFTEC, who has spent the better part of two decades analyzing people’s swings.
He says that the best golfers they’ve analyzed move their hips between 3 and 4 inches toward their target as they swing from address to top.
Of course, if you’re like me and don’t quite know what that means the first time you read it, he also explained it like this.
If you were to place your golf bag in front of your lead leg, your hip bone should brush against it to the point of it beneath your rib cage.
The next time you get to the driving range or are practicing your swing in your garage try this out.
You’ll be surprised how hard it can be to have this swing if you don’t already have it without letting your lead knee open up to the target.
If your knee isn’t still slightly flexed over your lead toe, you likely need to work on some of that flexibility.
Now it’s time to talk about the people who make these tips and tricks look like second nature
Tour Talks: How Viktor Became This Year’s Victor
In case you missed the Fed Ex Cup this year, Viktor Hovland took gold for the second year in a row…
Along with a nice $18,000,000 Victor’s check.
And if that’s not a reason to tell the wife you need to spend this weekend getting better at those hip swings so you can make some of that PGA money I don’t know what it is.
Especially since the golfer who got 30th walked away with a cool $500,000 👀
Hovland truly had some of the best reads and shots you could hope for on the greens though.
He not only sunk a crucial 25-foot par putt at the 14th hole to catch up with the then leader Xander Schauffele.
But then, he followed it up with a 10-foot birdie putt at the 16th that sealed his podium spot.
(I seriously recommend watching at least the highlights if you didn’t catch the whole cup this weekend)
Some of the most intense moments I’ve seen during a PGA match.
You can feel the audience holding their breath on that 16th hole with Hovland.
